What’s Changing in April 2025?

From April 2025, double cab pick-ups with a one-tonne payload or more will no longer qualify for their current tax classification. Instead, they’ll be treated as cars for:

Benefit-in-Kind (BIK) Tax

BIK tax will be based on CO2 emissions rather than the previous flat rates. For vehicles with higher emissions, this means a significant increase in tax liabilities.

Capital Allowances

Businesses will lose the ability to fully write off the cost of these vehicles under the current favourable rules. Instead, they’ll follow less advantageous car allowance guidelines. For businesses relying on pick-ups, these changes could significantly increase costs.
